Stroud U11's v Cheltenham U11's
Stroud U 11's entertained Cheltenham at the Berryfields on Sunday morning in perfect playing conditions and managed to lose the first game and win the second.
Stroud woke up in the second game and played some entertaining rugby for the large crowd of spectators. The first try was a result of a good forward drive from Aaron Raath, Harry Pavis and Keelan Spence, Joe Ashenford emerged with the ball and crashed over for the try which he duly converted. Oliver Greensweig had a lot of work to do at full back with Cheltenham putting in big clearance kicks, his excellent positioning ensured that each kick was caught cleanly and good ground was made. The second try came from a solid scrum inside the Stroud half which saw scrum half Richard Siebenaller give an excellent pass to Konah Dyer who took the ball at speed, he then weaved his way through the Cheltenham players and when tackled was able to release a perfectly timed pass to Ashenford who barged his way through the remaining defenders for the score again adding the two pints for the conversion. Stroud continued to pressurise the Cheltenham defence resulting in a penalty which was received by Dom Butcher at full speed, he then bulldozed his way through a large number of the Cheltenham team to score and still had enough energy to get the kick between the posts. Tackle of the day was awarded to Jonathan Butcher for an excellent tackle in the first game.
