In the first of three matches against close neighbours and rivals, Painswick, Stroud were undone in the last phase of play in both halves, conceding close range tries after defending determinedly for long periods of the match. Both tries came from ex-player, Gareth Jones, who certainly seemed to relish his return to Fromehall Park and were also successfully converted by Christian Marment. For Stroud Freddy Stephenson made one notable try saving tackle.

This was the one match of the three that Stroud deserved something from. A more even contest with both sides having there attacking chances but defences generally on top. Stroud's Freddy Stephenson again made a crunching try saving tackle to keep the scores level but a fine individual try from Painswick's George Eldridge very late on snatched the win for the visitors. Christian Marment was again on target with the conversion.

For Stroud Konah Dyer and Dominic Butcher typified the a spirited Stroud performance and Richard Siebenaller was awarded tackle of the day for a well timed tackle on the marauding Gareth Jones.
