U16s. County Cup v Dursley 10 th Feb.
Stroud 22 Dursley 10

This was an important match for the Stroud boys playing local rivals Dursley.  They have had a disappointing start to the  season and had something to prove.  It has to be said that they looked a different team in this match from the word go as they went straight on  the attack with some great running by Ben Andrews and Ed Price culminating in a try scored by Nick Morris within the first ten minutes.  An exciting first half with some great tackling by Stroud kept the home team in the front until the Dursley forwards secured a try just before half time despite some tenacious defence by Stroud.
The second half began with Dursley piling on the pressure which Stroud countered with another try scored by Jack Winchle.  The Dursley forwards again used their formidable weight and power to drive over another try.   The Stroud pack countered by winning a Dursley scrum leading to another try by Morris (rewarded by a broken collar bone ).  Solid Stroud defence kept Dursley away from the try line and decisive breaks from Blue Lynes and the captain Price  led to a drop goal by Will Clapham to add to his tally of two try conversions.  This was a fine team effort by the Stroud boys with everyone giving 100% .  Man of the match was Tom Allen.
