Stroud ended their season with an exciting game against harlEssex aka "The Red Men" proved worthy opposition for Stroud who played with the skill and aggression that has eluded them for much of the year.
Stroud went straight onto the attack with captain Ed Price stamping his authority early in the game. After 20 minutes a break form Harlow almost secured them a try but was thwarted by a fine tackle from Ollie Paine. Pressure from the Harlow pack finally gave them the try and conversion. Strong play from Stroud aftter the re-start was rewrarded wuth a try by Sam halliday, converted by Will Clapham to level the score at half-time.
the second half strarted well fro Stroud with a magnificent break and score from nick Morris eturning to form after injury. Clapham again converted from a difficult angle. Harlow counterd to draw level once more.
A period of good attacking play from Stroud was finished off with a ty for Blue Lynes showing impressive speed for a prop. However harlow were not behind for long and after a try and coversion went into the lead. Despite some beautiful flowing rugby from Paine, Clapham and Morris, Harlow remained ahead. Ben Andrews did well to win back a stray ball and Stroud thought they had scored as Morris again went over the line only to have the try deemed double movement. Most of the last 10 minutes were spent in the visitor's half with the home team desperately trying to secure a victory and Harlow doggedly hanging on to their lead.
Despite the defeat Stroud should feel proud of themselves as they played with spirit and flair. Those deserving special mention were Laurence Coates, Pete Lewis, Adam Stock and Sam. Man of the match - Ollie Paine.
