A strong wind blowing down the field made handling and kicking a lottery. With the wind at their backs Coney Hill were soon on the offensive taking two early tries, one being converted.
Stroud came more into the game over the next 20 minutes and full back Nathan Taylor gathered a loose ball on the halfway line and outstripped the covering defence to score the try.
Further pressure from Coney Hill was met but a stubborn Nomads defence with no further scores in the first half.
With the strong wind now in their favour Nomads laid siege to the Coney Hill try line with both No8 Dave Clutterbuck and stand off Sam Leworthy going close to scoring.
However, not to be denied, wing Jordan Phipps beat three defenders to score Stroud's second try, converted by Sam Leworthy.
This stung Coney Hill into action and a drive by their forwards led to their winger scoring their third try. The game then became very niggley with both sides losing players to the 'sin bin'.
Nomads continued to press and a good pick up by centre Chris Toon led to him scoring the third Stroud try. Further good play by the Stroud forwards gave stand off Sam Leworthy the opportunity to score the Nomads fourth try which he converted.
With time running out Coney Hill made a last desperate attack into the Stroud 22 and were awarded a try scored by their scrum half and converted.
From the kick off Stroud drove to the Coney Hill line and capt Rob Davey looked to have scored the winning try, only to be denied by the referee, who then blew for time.
