Fairford put up a spirited display and went into half time with the lead. But as the second half progressed, the Nomads pressure began to tell on a tiring Fairford and the gaps started to open, the Nomads running out eventual winners for the third year in a row. Cory Baker, who was enjoying a fine game at fly half, sustained a nasty ankle injury and we wish him a speedy recovery.
In Gloucestershire Reserve League Division 1 North, the Nomads were runners up to the second string of National 2 outfit Lydney, four levels above Stroud. Despite fulfilling most of their 22 game fixture list, the Nomads lost out to a side with a better win ratio, despite the Nomads securing 14 wins and 20 more points than title winners Lydney who played only half of their games - something the competition organisers need to address for next season.
The Nomads play an enjoyable and exciting brand of rugby which is fun for everyone to participate in and watch and continue to develop under the tutelage of the Rupert Foote. They can look back on the season and be proud of what they have achieved, including the number of players who have stepped up to 1st team rugby during the campaign.
The club's Management Team thanks the players and Nomads management team for such a great year and we look forward to even more exciting campaign next season!
