On a drab winter's afternoon, Nomads sparkled occasionally, and showed what can be done when handling errors are kept to a minimum writes Chris Skey.

Playing up a steepish slope in the first half, the Stroud threequarters ably led by stand off half Ian Bushell moved the ball at every opportunity, with wings James Morton and Alex Powell given plenty of scope to run at the Bream defence. The heavier Bream pack looked to control in the mauls and managed this for the first 15 minutes of the half. However, good tackling by the Nomads especially by the back row of Tom Flanagan, Dave Brooks and Elliot Riedler forced the opposition into errors, and from a good turnover captain Chris Toon sprinted through a gap and scored the first try.

Further good work by the Nomads forwards resulted in No 8 Dave Brooks picking up a loose ball near the Bream try line and forcing his way over, both converted by Joe Ashenford. Bream then upped their game and after several sorties in to the Stroud 22 their powerful forwards crossed for an unconverted try, bringing the first half to a close.

With the slope now in their favour Stroud began the second half with a bang, forwards and backs combining for centre Cory Baker to push through a lovely grubber kick, enabling wing Alex Powell to catch and score the third try. Soon after another good handling threequarter movement allowed him dive over in the corner for his second try.

With the Nomads forwards now getting good clean ball from the scrums, centre Joe Little made an excellent break covering some 60/70 yards only to be tackled metres from the try line, quick re-cycling by the forwards gave him the chance to score a well deserved try.

Immediately from the kick off Stroud ran the ball back at Bream with Joe Ashenford showing their defence a clean pair of heels to score the final try and make two more conversions.

Once again a very good showing by a young Nomads side.
