With the league match against Old Patesians 3rd XV being cancelled, a hastily arranged match against Cheltenham 2nd XV took place.
Nomads travelled to Cheltenham with 14players but turned on a scintillating display of rugby from start to finish. Stroud were soon on the scoreboard with a fine try scored by full back Jake Marsh who made a good break and outstripped the covering defence. The forwards were winning plenty of scrum and loose ball with 2nd Row Lee Marshall always in the thick of the action. It was from a lineout catch and drive by the Nomads forwards which led to the second try scored by Lee Marshall.
With Stroud well on top further tries came from slick threequarter moves scored by wing Chris Toon, centre Jamie Leworthy and Jake Marsh, all the first half tries being converted by fly half Cory Baker. Cheltenham came more into the game towards the end of the half and were rewarded with a try just before the halftime break.
The Stroud forwards were soon into the action at the beginning of the second half with prop Charlie Foote and wing forward Grant Nash, leading the way with some strong runs. With the Nomads backs getting plenty of good ball further tries came from Chris Toon (2) and centre Chris Jones who made a stunning break and crashed through several would be tacklers to score a fine try. The two Stroud wingers then came into the action with newcomer Jack Scanes scoring in the corner. As the Nomads began to tire momentum was lost with Jake Marsh and Chris Jones having to leave the field with injuries. Even down to 12players Nomads scored the final try of the match through wing Sam Strange, which was converted by Cory Baker.
