The first match of the season for Stroud Nomads ended in a fine 9 try win.
With conditions dry and sunny and a mixture of youth and experience in the side, Nomads gave a excellent running and handling display. After a fine run by fullback Corey Baker, the forwards drove to the Widden line where Grant Nash dived over for the first try.
Shortly afterwards a fine solo effort by scrumhalf Dave Bishop resulted in the second try.
Widden however were soon back in the game when a storming run by their forwards resulted in the scrumhalf diving over for a try.
Stroud Nomads were soon back at the other end and a forward drive saw captain Rob Davey driven over the line for his first try of the afternoon.
The final try of the 1st half was the result of good interplay between the forwards and backs which ended with Davey getting his second try.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the 1st with Stroud Nomads dominating much of the game with further tries being scored by Matt Hunt, Dan Whittaker, Mark Walker, Jess Stevens and today's man of the match, Harry Foote. Four conversions were made by Iain Bushell and Grant Nash.
Training continues on Mondays and Thursdays from 6.45pm all welcome.
