Nomads continue their fine form in the league

Nomads started very slowly and were put under immediate pressure by the Hucclecote forwards and only two good try saving tackles by full back Chris Toon prevented Hucclecote from getting on the scoreboard. Nomads gradually got themselves into the Hucclecote half and after good play by Ollie Walters and Grant Nash, a loose ball was picked up by Dave Bishop who crossed wide out.

Play remained even for most of the first half with Nat Cook, Phil Fruin and Captain Rob Davey to the fore in most of the Nomads play. A moment of individual brilliance let to the Nomads second try, when Liam Hopkins picked up the ball inside his own half and outstripped the Hucclecote defence to score an excellent try.

With half time beckoning the Hucclecote forwards made inroads into the Nomads 22 and gave the Hucclecote centre an opportunity to crash over the try line near the posts, it being duly converted.

The second half was as hard fought as the 1st with Stroud having a number of scoring opportunities, but being let down by poor handling or wrong options. Nomads scored the next try after a barnstorming run by centre Ollie Walters who crossed near the posts , with Sam Leworthy adding the conversion. Further good play by the Nomads forwards nearly resulted in a try for prop Grant Nash, who was held up just short of the line.

Hucclecote were far from finished and a good break by their centre took play into the Stroud 22, the ball broke loose and was collect by Nomads full back Chris Toon who ran the length of the field to score under the posts, converted by Sam Leworthy.

In the last play of the match the Hucclecote forwards drove to the Stroud line where they scored near the posts, the try being converted. All in all another good performance by the Nomads, with the younger players again showing up well.
