Positives for weakened Nomads

With a strong wind blowing down the pitch, Chosen Hill took the opportunity of playing the first half with the elements and their strong forwards gave their backs plenty of good ball to carve through the Nomads defence and score two early tries.

Stroud came more into the game and several good passing movements between the forwards and backs resulted in scrum half Joe Ashenford converting a penalty award. Unfortunately captain Chris Toon was injured during the build up to this attack and took no further part in the game.

This spurred Chosen Hill into action and further tries were scored by their fast running backs. Only good tackling by Ian Bushell, Cory Baker and Tom Flanagan stopped further scores and from a Chosen Hill breakdown, wing Alex Powell picked up the ball inside his own 22 and outstripped the defence to score a fine try, the conversion being missed.

With the half coming to a close, Chosen Hill ran in two further tries, one being converted. With the wind in the second half Nomads pressurised the Chosen Hill line and were rewarded when centre Cory Baker crossed in the corner after several attacks had been thwarted. Further opportunities were created by the Stroud threequarters with wing Alex Powell being stopped just short of the try line. Replacement prop Callum Ross making his first appearance for Stroud was soon in the action and from a penalty award drove over the try line to score, converted by Joe Ashenford. Chosen Hill had the final word by scoring a further try in the last minute of the game.

Nomads fought hard in the second half and although they were second best in this match some solid performances were made.
