This was an excellent game of open rugby with both sides running the ball at every opportunity writes Chris Skey.

Berry Hill were quick out of the blocks and Nomads had to defend for the first 10 minutes, but forwards and backs alike stopped wave after wave of attacks with fly half Sam Leworthy relieving the pressure with a good run out of defence and taking play into the Berry Hill half.

Stroud kept up the pressure with 2nd row Lee Marshall leading the forwards by example both at the breakdown and in the lineout. The game ebbed and flowed with both sides looking to keep the ball alive. After some good interplay by scrum half Jordan Phipps and Nomads forwards, Sam Leworthy broke through the Berry Hill defence with a determined run and scored and converted his try.

Stroud full back Aaron Raath always looked dangerous with ball in hand and made several good runs. Further chances were created by the Nomads, but not taken, so they took a small lead into the second half.

The pace of the match did not slacken after the break, Stroud continued to run the ball from deep and were rewarded by a superb run from inside his own half by full back Aaron Raath and an unconverted try.

Berry Hill were still continuing to play open rugby and there young backs came close to scoring, with only good defensive tackling by wing forwards Tom Flanagan and Elliot Riedler keeping them out. Another good run by Aaron Raath led to the ball being passed through several Nomads players hands and when centre Chris Toon was tackled near the try line scrum half Jordan Phipps skipped over the line for Nomads third try, converted by Sam Leworthy

From the kick off Stroud attacked once again and another good run by Sam Leworthy gave winger James Morton a great opportunity to score his first try for the club but it was not to be.

A fine game of open rugby by both teams and well refereed. Man of the match for Nomads full back Aaron Raath who had a fine all round game.
