Stroud started strongly and a strong run by fly half Sam Leworthy took play into the Coney Hill half, but a dropped ball allowed the Coney Hill winger to fly hack it all the way into the Stroud 22 Jordan Phipps and beat the covering defence to score the try, converted by their fly half.
Nomads went straight back onto the attack and a determined drive by 2nd row Dave Brooks assisted by the rest of the pack took play back into the Coney Hill 22 and good quick ball gave Sam Leworthy the opportunity to cut through and score near the posts, converted by Joe Ashenford. With both sides attempting to play open rugby further try scoring opportunities were missed by both sides.
Coney Hill were then awarded a penalty kick after the Stroud threequarters were caught offside, which was duly kicked. Further penalty attempts by Coney Hill were missed, so they went into the second half with a narrow lead.
Nomads were soon on the attack in the second half and were awarded a penalty kick which Joe Ashenford duly converted. Good defensive work by centres Chris Toon and Cory Baker stopped several promising Coney Hill attacks and when wing Jordan Phipps was given the ball he always looked dangerous. However, Coney Hill kept up the pressure and with Stroud giving away penalty kicks their fly half converted two more to give them a six point lead.
With time running out Nomads forwards drove into the Coney Hill half and were awarded several penalties, from one Jordan Phipps crashed over for the try which was converted by Joe Ashenford. For the next few minutes the Stroud line was under constant attack from the Coney Hill forwards but excellent defence by Nomads weathered the storm and a clearing kick from Sam Leworthy ended the match.
An excellent all round performance from all the Nomads team.
