A lovely spring afternoon was the setting for a thrilling match which was settled in the final minutes of an absorbing game. From the kick off Nomads stormed into the Lydney half and after five minutes fly half Luke Peer slotted a penalty kick. Nomads continued to hold sway winning plenty of turnover balls with No8 Rob Sealey making an impressive return to the club. Lydney came more into the half and there forwards took play into the Stroud half and from several forward drives they scored there first try. With both sides making every attempt to play open rugby it was from a good threequarter play from fly half Luke Peer and centres Chris Toon and Joe Little which led to Nomads first try when back row forward Bob Reid took a well times pass and burst through several would be tacklers to score, converted by Luke Peer.
Lydney were soon on the offensive in the second half and only some determined tackling kept them out, with centre Chris Toon making one certain try saving tackle. Eventually the constant pressure paid off with their wing managing to barge his way over in the corner. With centre Joe Little having to leave the field with what looked a serious ankle injury, wing Jack Williams moved into the centre position and showed his versatility by making several determined runs. Nomads continued to attack and several good opportunities were spurned through poor handling. With time running out, Nomads were given a lineout in their own 22, A good catch by Bob Reid and a concerted drive by the forwards took play up to the halfway line, good ball from scrum half Callum Gibbs gave the Stroud backs a chance to open the Lydney defence with centre Jack Williams giving wing Tom Flanagan to outstrip the defence and run some 50metres to score the winning try, converted by Luke Peer.
An excellent game played in a very good spirit, with the never say die attitude of the Nomads winning the day.
