The game which was played on the main pitch gave both sides the opportunity to play open rugby, but was largely spoilt as Cinderford were unable to field a front row so all scrums were uncontested. The first twenty minutes were fairly even, but good forward play by Dave Clutterbuck and Phil Middlemiss gave Sam Leaworthy the opportunity to make a good break which was carried on by Dan Ryland who scored wide out, Sam Leaworthy was unable to convert.
Just before the break Cinderford were awarded a penalty in front of the posts which was duly kicked. The second half was as hard fought as the first with neither side taking the ascendancy. However, midway through the half Cinderford scored a unconverted try, giving them the lead 8pts -5pts. With time running out Mark Walker made a lovely break from his own half and did a switch move with man of the match Chris Anderson who scored under the posts, which was converted by Sam Leaworthy. The final whistle soon followed giving Stroud Nomads a hard fought win.
