In a very even game Stroud Nomads came out on top, with the winning try coming in the last 5 minutes of the match. Painswick played down the slope in the first half and were soon rewarded with a try after the Nomads scrum had been disrupted the Painswick flanker picked up the loose ball and dived for a converted try. Play remained even although the Painswick centre looked extremely dangerous whenever he was given the ball. The second Painswick try came after a Stroud passing movement broke down, the ball was hacked down field and Chris Anderson the Nomads full back under pressure was unable to clear the ball to touch resulting in the Painswick winger catching it and crossing for the try, which was unconverted.
Stroud then increased the pressure and offside at the ruck by the Painswick forwards resulted in a quick tap penalty by man of the match scrum half Callum Gibbs who ran from the half way line unopposed and scored by the posts, Grant Nash converted. With half time beckoning another Stroud passing movement broke down in the Painswick half the loose ball was recycled by the Painswick backs and the winger scored in the corner.
After the halftime break Nomads laid siege to the Painswick line, with Rob Davey and Rob Matts both having tries disallowed. The continual pressure ended with an excellent try by Harry Foote after a determined run from near the half way line. This try was converted by Iain Bushell.
Stroud remained on the offensive and a good passage of interpassing between forwards and backs gave Mark Walker the chance to break through several tackles to score at the posts.
