Nomads back to winning ways

Most of the first 20 minutes of the game was spent in the midway section of the pich with no side getting an obvious advantage. The tackling of both sides was tenacious and the opportunities were few until a fine break out of defence by Sam Leworthy gave centre Chris Toon the chance to open his legs and a fine 60yard run along the touch line resulted in a try for the Nomads. Brockworth came straight back into the game and a period of prolonged pressure ended in their forwards crashing over the line for an unconverted try. Stroud then had 5 minutes of sustained pressure on the Brockworth try line, prior to the half time whistle, without being able to score.

The second half was mainly played in the Brockworth half, although on several occasions their threequarters looked very dangerous on the break, with Stroud wing Harry Phillips bringing off a try saving tackle on the Brockworth full back when a try looked certain. After this chance went begging Stroud upped the tempo of the game and it was no surprise when Grant Nash peeled off a driving maul and ran 30yrds for a try in the corner. The Nomads kept up the pressure and another try soon followed when good threequarter play ended in full back Corey Baker crossing wide out. W ith some 7/8minutes left in the game a clearing kick by the Nomads full back hit one of the Brockworth forwards as he charged it down causing him to be injured and the game being abandoned.

This was a very good performance by the Nomads backs and forwards with Chris Toon having a fine match with his handling, running and tackling.
