Stroud will rue the number of chances they spurned in the 1st half and only have themselves to blame for the loss. Play was fairly even for the opening 10 minutes with neither side having an advantage. Stroud threequarters looked dangerous with ball in hand and after a brerak by Neil Broadbent the ball came to wing Harry Phillips who slipped through several tackles before scoring the first try. Further try scoring opportunities were not taken until after some 30minutes the Nomads forwards with Rob Davey and Lee Marshall drove upfield and released full back Cory Baker to score in the corner. Painswick then came to life and their forwards mauled their way towards the Stroud tryline and were rewarded with a penalty kick infront of the posts which was duly kicked.
The second half came to life soon after Stroud forward Matt Hunt was sin binned, when the Painswick forwards took control of the game and despite dogged defending by Stroud the burly Painswick wing forward crashed over for a try near the posts, with the conversion a formality. Further pressure by Painswick led to the winning try when a good handling movement by their back and forwards led to a try by the winger in the corner. Despite several minutes of pressure near the Painswick try line over eagarness led to Stroud giving away penalty kicks and the game ended with Painswick on the attack again.
