Stroud started at a very fast pace and good threequarter play soon gave new winger Matt Peachman the opportunity to score his first try for the club. Nomads continued on the attack and after a Berry Hill attack broke down on halfway, good interpassing between the forwards and backs resulted in Matt Peachman scooting over in the corner for his 2nd try. Berry Hill using their large pack drove up the field and some poor tackling allowed their No 8 to crash over for an unconverted try. This woke up the Stroud forwards and once again good interplay between forwards and backs gave full back Cory Baker the chance to score Stroud's third try. With half time beckoning Nomads attacked from inside their own half and good handling by Phil Fruin, Chris Organ and Henry Grundy took play to the Berry Hill 22 where scrum half Dave Bishop took the final pass to score the 4th try.
In the second half Berry Hill soon scored their 2nd try after a Stroud attack broke down in their 22 and the loose ball was picked up and driven over the try line. Although Stroud continued to play open rugby Berry Hill kept them at bay with a stern defence. Nomads eventually broke through after an excellent run by wing Tom Flanagan who beat the covering defence and scored at the posts, the try being converted by Cory Baker. Berry Hill continued to hound the Stroud team and were rewarded with their 3rd try after a bullocking run by their No 8. With time running out stand off half Sam Leworthy broke out of defence, kicked over the retreating defence and gathered the bouncing ball to score at the posts, the conversion by Cory Baker. A hard fought win by the Nomads and again a good all round performance by the players.
Next match 17th March 2012 to be arranged.
