On a lovely sunny day ideal for open rugby, this match never developed any pattern until the second half. Stroud played most of the first half in opposition terrority without looking likely to score, poor passing and dropped balls prevented what looked like scoring chances go astray. Nomads were made to pay for their mistakes when a clearing kick by Glos Old Boys took play into the Stroud 22 and from an ensuing maul their No 8 crossed under the posts, the try duly being converted. A couple of nice breaks by Stroud stand off Sam Leworthy took play into the Glos Old Boys half and a good forward maul gave wing forward Nat Cook the opportunity to wriggled through several tackles and score an unconverted try. Shortly afterwards Stroud were awarded a penalty which full back Cory Baker kicked. The half time whistle brought what was an uneventful 1st half to a close.
The introduction of veteran threequarter Andre Sharp to the Nomads back line gave the team the necessary impetus to play some open and attractive rugby. He was soon on the scoresheet, when after sustained pressure on the Old Boys line he crashed through to score near the posts, the try being converted by Cory Baker. Soon after this a good drive by the Nomads forwards led by capt Rob Davey, Phil Fruin and Tom Spencer gave the threequarters the chance to give Sharp another scoring pass which he took. It was again converted by Cory Baker. Stroud then relaxed their grip on the game and Glos Old Boys mounted several promising attacks , resulting in their speedy winger taking a cross kick from the scrum half and scoring unapposed at the posts, the try was converted. This shook Stroud into action and some good forward play once again took them into the Old Boys 22 where hooker Grant Nash peeled off from a driving mauk and scored the final try of the afternoon, converted again.
