Ryland scores twice in tough Division 1 North encounter

Almost from the kick off the Nomads moved the ball along the three quarter line for winger Dan Ryland to burst through several tackles and score the first try. However, this lead was short lived as Cheltenham North immediately attacked from deep with forwards and backs off loading well and giving there wing forward the opportunity to score at the posts.

This try was quickly followed by two more which were converted. This stirred the Nomads into action and for the next 20 minutes kept themselves into Cheltenham North territory but could find that finishing touch.

They were however awarded a penalty kick for an offence at a ruck, which fly off Cory Baker duly kicked. This stung Cheltenham North into an immediate attack which gave their winger the chance to score their fourth try. This was again followed by another try just before the half time whistle.

The second half started well for Stroud with several attacks being thwarted by a solid Cheltenham defence, An ankle injury to scrum half Callum Gibbs who had to leave the field, gave winger Dan Ryland the chance to return to his normal position and show a clean pair of heels to the Cheltenham North side and score his second try.

With the Nomads forwards tiring the North team capatilised on this and ran in four second half tries to complete a comfortable win.

The Nomads never gave up and an excellent performance by Dan Ryland returning from a long term injury was a bonus.
