DURSLEY DERBY

I was a bit apprehensive about taking it on single handed....But I think it went rather well...
Thanks firstly to all the kids, I couldn't have asked for better behaviour today you all did me, the other coaches, Nicky, the club and most importantly yourselves proud.
Thank you also to all the parents for your help. Special thanks to Craig and Stuart.

I think the team split worked really well this week. I aimed to put an even spread of players throughout. Good attackers, good defenders, good support players. All the players have their own strengths and it seemed to work well.

We played 6 Games today and the final score on the day was 3-3.We had 3 teams and Dursley had 2 . I was reffing aswell so can only report on what I saw. So this report may seem to be a bit one sided but I think we were quite evenly matched with Dursley.

Game 1

Playing up hill in the first half Stroud started off with a with cracking trys from Wiil Towers, Max M, Imogen and Joseph D. Stroud were in great attacking form with some lovely support play from Will VDB setting up a couple, great passing by all and we found good space out wide.3-4 to stroud at half time. The second half started off with an immediate turn over created by Max M, taking 5 of the 6 tags to win it. It was incredible and although reffing couldn't help cheer on the 6th tag by Hector. Tommy Gibbs and Max put on a great combined tagging spree over about 30 seconds giving us our second consecutive turnover. More trys for Max, Theo and Imogen. Hector supported well in the dying seconds and scored a cracking final try right in the corner just before full time. Final Score 4-8 to Stroud.

This game finished 7-4 to Dursley.

Game 3

Another brilliant team display. Defending with a really flat line being organised by Zach we turned over the ball twice in the first half. Great effort and some stand out diving tags from Zach, Max L. First half try's scored by Tom Howarth(2), Lawernce and Callum. Half time score 0-4 to Stroud.
Dursley came back in the second half and we lost the ball in a fumble bringing the score back to 3-4 . Zach scoring with a break down the left touch line to make it 3-5. Stroud nearly turned over the ball with some great tagging from Sam Hursthouse and Will R who was every where in the second half. Stroud finished strong with 2 great try's from Sam. The last one a great individual try, scoring in the corner after a weaving run right at the final whistle. Final score 4-7 to Stroud.

Game 5

Well this game was Amazing to watch. Stroud were rampant!!!
With Dursley tiring Theos pace was un-catchable. All Stroud players were tagging all over the place turning over the ball 3 or 4 times in each half. Will T was in the trys. Tommy Gibbs was every where with some great off loads without being tagged, using his trade mark pop up pass from the deck setting up some quick breaks. Imogen was flying about full stretch, whipping off tags like crazy. Joseph seemed to be at every breakdown supporting amazingly setting up some breaks. Max M was giving the opposition no time to pass, darting in and ripping tags. Theo scored an amazing individual try, weaving and swerving the full length of the pitch........ Phew im tired just trying to remember...... Final Score 4-10 to Stroud!!!!!!.

Game 6

Finished 8-4 to Dursley.

Apologies if I have missed any one. Craig and Stuart said everyone played really well in the games I missed and more importantly behaved!!!
