Stroud under 10's new season got off to a great start with a convincing win over Painswick under 10's. The opening score of the game came Stroud's way after they built up pressure producing some excellent phases of rugby to suck in the defence before sending the ball wide with Lewis McDowall going over for the first of his four tries. Painswick replied immediately with a score from the kick off catching Stroud by surprise. Stroud's second try soon came with them playing patient rugby and building through the phases before releasing the ball to Freddie Polley to crash through for the first of what was to be his six tries in the match. Strong tackling from Stroud especially Kit Thomas, Conor Beard, James Mitchell and Joel Finch pinned Painswick back and made it difficult for them to play. Aggression around the rucks helped Stroud turn over most balls in Painswick's possession with Matt Oliver, Iwan Rossiter and new boy Jake stripping Painswick of the ball and setting things up ready for the next attack. James Jones was unlucky not to score several times for Stroud but his excellent passing set up tries for Kane Snell and Chaka Tomlin-Hayles who also put in some firm tackles. All in all an excellent performance from every member of the squad.
