After weeks of freezing weather the county cup finally takes place in the sunshine at Tewkesbury.

First match: Stroud 5 Thornbury 0

Stroud went out confidently in their first match, with their scrummaging, mauling and rucking all working excellently. Great tackling from Jared Usher, Zin-zan Cremins and Sam Harte kept Thornbury away from Stroud's tryline. In attack Stroud produced some great team work which finally resulted in Zin-zan Cremins scoring the only try of the match.

In the second half there was great defence from Ryan Senior, Alfie Polley and Marcus Martin that protected Stroud's lead. Despite some great runs from Billy Ashbee and Ollie Reid, Stroud were unable to extend their lead and make the match safe.

Second match: Stroud 0 Old Richians 10

Again Stroud played really well, with great great tackling from Finn McCarthy and Harry Stone. However Old Richians up their game as the half progressed and were able to score a try to lead at the break.

The second half saw Stroud resolute in their defence, and it was visible that they were not going to give up easily. Great clearing out from Zin-zan Cremins and Barney Lazenbury looked likely to lead to Stroud pulling level but in the end Old Richians were able to score a decisive second try to secure the match.

Third match: Stroud 5 Hucclecote 10

A first half of play showed that this would be a very close game with neither team being able to breach defences to score the opening try. Stroud's defence was led by some good tackling from Ben Martindale and Will Mapletoft. Billy Ashbee can consider himself unlucky not to have scored a fabulous try when he chased down a punt upfield from Joe Adams, but unfortunately he had strayed marginally in front of the kicker.

Chances were more plentiful in the second half, and Stroud scored first with a great run by Jared Usher, who eventually popped the ball to Joe Adams to score in the corner. However, Stroud were unable to hold out, and Hucclecote took their chances to slip in two tries.

Fourth match: Stroud 0 Cleeve 15

Stroud tried their best in the first half with great defence from Stanley Nash, George Armstrong and Oliver Dangerfield, however, Cleeve were able to squeeze in 3 tries.

In the second half Stroud came out fighting, with an excellent tackle from Finn McCarthy evidence of the commitment shown by the team. Some good rucking and mauling from Zin-zan Cremins meant that Stroud held Cleeve to a scoreless half, which no other team in the group were able to do.

Stroud managed to get through to the quarter finals of the Plate

Plate quarter final:
Stroud 0 Minchinhampton 35

The first half saw Stroud starting to tire, however they battled on, but were unable to match Minchinhampton for speed and found themselves traing by 4 tries at halftime.

Better defencive play (led by Jared Usher and Billy Ashbee) in the second half saw Stroud compete but Minchinhampton squeezed in 3 more tries.

Star player: Zin-zan Cremins
Best tackler: Jared Usher
Most determined: Finn McCarthy
