Stroud got off to a rocky start by letting in an early try straight from the start in the 1st match. Not to be put off the boys knuckled down and started playing good solid rugby. They took a deserved lead, but Widden clawed it back and made it 2-2. With the last play of the game Stroud kept attacking, kept the ball alive and Alex ran in the winning try to give a well fought victory.
2nd game was again close, but Widden played as well as our boys and managed to eek out a close victory.
In the 3rd and final game (after every other team had left!) it was a real ding-dong affair with tries scored in both directions. Both teams wouldn't back down and kept attacking, but also pulling off valiant defending. In the end the last try was scored by Widden but it took so long to happen we had all forgotten the score so we declared it a draw (aka a Stroud win!)
Special thanks go to their ref who was very fair, explained the decisions very well, and even gave us a try after a "slight" knock on, or 3!
As Lewis asked at the start - "Are you going to be a fair ref?" - and true to his word he was.......
